The catch with self-hosting Listmonk

Listmonk is free and open source. The software costs nothing. Then you discover what “self-hosted” actually means:

  • You rent and maintain a server, keep Postgres healthy, apply updates, manage backups and SSL.
  • You sign up for a separate SMTP provider and wire it in yourself.
  • You configure SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and a Return-Path, and hope you got them right.
  • You handle bounces and spam complaints, or your domain reputation quietly collapses.
  • You find out the hard way that Listmonk happily reports "1,000 sent" while your provider only delivered 113.

None of that is Listmonk’s fault. Listmonk doesn’t send email. It hands your campaign to an SMTP server and trusts you to have set that part up correctly. For most people, that part is the whole problem. We wrote the long version in self-hosted Listmonk: the part nobody mentions.

Who this is for

  • You know Listmonk (or you've read about it) and want it without running infrastructure.

Common questions

Is this the real Listmonk?
Yes. Your own instance, with full list, subscriber, campaign, and template features. We manage the infrastructure settings (SMTP, server config) so deliverability stays healthy. Everything else is yours.
Do I need my own SMTP provider?
No. That's the whole point. Sending is included.
Can I send from my own domain?
Yes. Add your domain, drop in the DNS records we generate, and you’re sending as you@yourdomain. To check a domain you already send from, use our free email tools.
Is there an API?
